Gov. Eno Signs ₦695bn Supplementary Budget, Commends Akwa Ibom Assembly for Swift Passage

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has assented to the ₦695 billion supplementary budget for the 2025 fiscal year, recently passed by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

The signing took place on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, during the Delivery Advisory Team Meeting held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo.

Governor Eno lauded the State Assembly for its prompt passage of the bill, noting that the supplementary budget would accelerate project implementation and service delivery across the state. He highlighted that the 2024 budget performed impressively, bringing positive recognition to Akwa Ibom, and expressed confidence that 2025 would surpass those achievements.

“Let me assure the people of Akwa Ibom State that all hands are on deck. We will continue to carry out our duties with probity and dedication for the benefit of all. With the passage and signing of the supplementary budget today, we are further fired up to ensure the full implementation of government programmes and projects as contained in the budget,”

Governor Eno also directed Commissioners and Delivery Advisors to study the budget and ensure timely execution of their respective allocations. He urged all project handlers to maximize the dry season for infrastructure work, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to effective governance.

Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, described the Delivery Meeting as an unprecedented innovation that fosters collaboration among key stakeholders in the state. He commended the Governor’s leadership style and said the engagement was a valuable oversight experience.

Senator Effiong Bob praised the Governor’s steadfastness and focus despite distractions, describing him as a leader whose commitment to development will define the next six years.

Also speaking, the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Elder Aniekan Akpan, applauded Governor Eno’s agricultural initiatives, particularly the tree crop development plan and food production drive. He also commended the near-completion of the Ukanafun General Hospital, calling it a testament to visionary leadership.

Highlights of the Delivery Meeting included presentations on key projects such as the Akwa Ibom Electricity Market, ARISE Senior Citizens Center, ARISE Resort, Ibom Hotel Renovation, Itam Industrial Park, Ibom Convention Center, Oron Ferry Jetty, Ibom Model Farm, Ibom International Hospital, RAAMP, and multiple general hospital projects across the state.

Dignitaries at the event included Deputy Governor Senator Akon Eyakenyi, Secretary to the State Government Prince Enobong Uwah, Executive Assistant/Chief Delivery Advisor Mr. Aniefiok Johnson, Head of Service Elder Effiong Essien, APC State Chairman Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, members of the State Executive Council, Delivery Advisors, and other top government officials.
