A North-East chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Mole Istifanus-Bennet, on Thursday resigned from the party in Gombe State.
According to a statement made available to our correspondent, Istifanus-Bennet, who was the immediate past women leader in the state, failed to disclose the reason for her resignation.
The PUNCH reports that recently the women leader alongside past women leaders from 11 local government areas of Gombe, alleged that the PDP governorship candidate failed to include them in campaign activities.
She had threatened to resign should the candidate fail to right the wrong, stressing that their political capital maybe transferred to helping the opposition retain power, if the candidate, Jibrin Barde, failed to retrace his steps.
In the letter which she addressed to the PDP chairman of Kaltungo West Ward, she commended the party for the opportunity given to her to serve.
The letter partly read, “I wish to humbly write and respectfully inform you of my decision to withdraw my membership from the party as from today.
“I would want to use this medium to most sincerely thank the leadership of the party at all levels for giving me the opportunity to serve.”
