Good Morning Britain viewers want to see Adil Ray promoted to a full-time presenter after he challenged an MP on today’s programme over Boris Johnson being pictured not wearing a face mask.

The 47-year-old host, who will front the ITV daytime programme this week alongside Susanna Reid, was joined by Conservative MP Paul Scully to discuss how Covid cases are on the rise across Europe.

Adil smoothly brought up the Prime Minister’s hypocrisy after he was caught defying his government’s own advice by not wearing a mask on a crowded train again — just one day after he apologised for not covering his face during a hospital visit.

‘We’re trying to put the onus back on people to have common sense and make informed decisions,’ Mr Scully stressed.

‘In that case, you’re saying common sense, people in confined areas to wear a mask, why did Boris Johnson did this?’ Adil fired back.

He continued: ‘Are you saying the Prime Minister hasn’t got any common sense and not following his own advice?’

Mr Scully attempted to defend Mr Johnson, but Adil was having none of it.

‘Mr Scully… you’ve just said you’re asking people to use their common sense when in confined areas,’ he fired back.

‘He’s not using his common sense. He’s the Prime Minister. He did again two weeks ago in a hospital, now on a busy train. If the Prime Minister isn’t using any common sense, why should anybody else, Mr Scully?’

Viewers applauded Adil for calling out the MP and holding the PM to account, with many demanding for him to be made a full-time host.

‘OMG .. well done @adilray you should be permanent on @GMB,’ one wrote. ‘No more important job than this. Truth in journalism at this very dangerous moment in our country’s history.’

Echoing a similar sentiment, another, who referred to fellow Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley, penned: ‘Adil Ray should be getting the full-time job on @GMB, not that sad, knowledge free idiot on I’m A Celebrity.’

A third added: ‘So glad @adilray is on @GMB saying what we all think about the selfish and irresponsible man who we are stuck with as the #PrimeMinister #JohnsonMustGo.’

Earlier this month, it was claimed Richard, 65, reportedly signed up for a full-time job on GMB after discussing it with wife Judy Finnigan, 73, following standing in temporarily.

A source told The Sun: ‘Richard has always maintained he would never do GMB full-time, as he loves his life as it is.

‘But as the weeks have gone by, and he’s proven a constant hit with viewers, he’s really got into his stride and has been enjoying it more and more.’

The source added that ratings have ‘steadily been on the rise’ for the past six months, which gave him the push to go for it.

It is understood that Richard is still hashing out how many days a week he will present the show, but it is expected he will do three days a week like Piers had done.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
