New developments are pointing towards the fact that the Glazers have finally folded after years of pressure from the fans to sell Manchester United.
According to Sky News, the Glazer family is exploring the possibility of selling Man United after their 17-year reign as owners, Sky Sport News reported Tuesday night.
It was gathered that Glazer family were “exploring financial options” after a 17-year ownership that had seen the majority of the fan base turn against them. This comes just weeks after Liverpool’s American ownership FSG announced that they would also be exploring their financial options.
Man United have been in disarray since Alex Ferguson left in 2013 and justifiably blame the ownership for their poor running of the club. It’s safe to say that this is good news for fans of the club.
This is coming as the football star Cristiano Ronaldo just exited the club on Tuesday.
Man United had announced that Ronaldo was leaving the club by mutual agreement with immediate effect.
The club, however, thanked the Portuguese for his contribution during the two spells which saw him score 145 goals in 346 appearances.
This was disclosed in a statement on the club’s official website on Tuesday.
The statement read in part, “Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.
“The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.
“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.”
Ronaldo in a farewell message also wished the club well, saying he felt it was right time for new challenge.
