Gary Neville believes Chelsea and Manchester United are suffering from the same problems so far this season, with the ‘cultural issues’ at both clubs hindering their performances on the pitch.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have just five points from their opening six fixtures, having one just won Premier League match so far this term.

United haven’t fared much better, with Erik ten Hag overseeing four league defeats in the club’s opening seven matches.

While the Dutchman proved a success in his first season at Old Trafford, the side have failed to replicate their form this campaign.

Chelsea are, of course, bedding in around £400m worth of new signings since Pochettino joined the club, as well as the £700m worth of arrivals that came in the 12 months before he was appointed.

But Neville believes the two managers are not to blame for the problems at their respective clubs, insisting instead that there’s a ‘cultural’ problem at Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford.

‘Chelsea and United are the way they are currently due to cultural issues and chaos,’ Neville said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

‘ETH and MP are good managers working in very difficult and challenging environments. Look up top!’

United resume their Champions League hopes on Tuesday against Galatasaray.

Chelsea take on Fulham in the Premier League tonight and have a free week, given their lack of European involvement this term.
