The Argentines booked their spot in Sunday’s World Cup final with a comfortable win against the Europeans.
Messi inspired the victory, scoring once and setting up another as he looks to get his hands on the ultimate goal this weekend.
Sunday’s final will likely be Messi’s final World Cup appearance and, having finished as a runner-up in 2014, it’s his final chance to win the competition.
Though Messi’s status as one of the greatest of all-time is cemented, guiding Argentina to the World Cup could take him above the likes of Diego Maradona and Pele, as well as rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

‘Is there still a debate?’ tweeted Lineker.
‘Asking for a goat.’
France and Morocco face off tonight with the hope of reaching Sunday’s final to take on Argentina.
Didier Deschamps’ side are overwhelming favourites to do so but Morocco have upset the odds in the last three weeks, beating Belgium, Spain and Portugal on the way.
