Popular Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has responded to allegations of snubbing her colleague Jumoke Aderounmu before her passing.
Recall that Jumoke, known for her role as ‘Esther’ in Jenifa’s Diary, tragically passed away recently. Her brother shared the devastating news on Instagram, along with a flyer detailing the burial arrangements.
He captioned the post, “You are in a better place now my sister 💔.”
Funke had reacted to the news of her passing, expressing sadness over her sudden demise at the young age of 37. She also prayed for her soul to find peace.
However, this didn’t sit well with Jumoke’s brother, and he criticized her for ‘feigning’ sadness about Jumoke’s death when she allegedly ignored calls for help when she was alive.
He wrote,
“You wey dem call tire, wey you no turn up, she even sent Pascal to you, you still no reach out!
Why the eye service now wey she don kpai?
Omo! Shoutout to Rita Dominic & Sotayo Gaga”
In a follow-up post, he described Funke as a terrible person and added, “They only do good when the good will make them feel good, they do bad in the dark and shed light on the good, so everyone can call them good.”
This evidently broke Funke Akindele’s heart, and she went live on her Instagram page to clear the air about the allegations.
She said she wasn’t aware of Jumoke’s struggles because filming for Jenifa’s Diary has been on pause for a while, and she is not in constant communication with all the actors.
The mother of two added that she recently asked another colleague, Jide Awobona, about Jumoke’s whereabouts, and he said she was fine.
Funke, who doesn’t usually respond to online criticisms and rebukes, said she felt the need to publicly address the allegations because they involve her late colleague.
