Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has defended Francis Uzoho after the goalkeeper committed another blunder in the side’s 2-2 friendly draw against Saudi Arabia on Friday night.

Uzoho was at fault for the first goal conceded by the Super Eagles in the friendly played at the Estadio Municipal de Portimao.

The Omonia Nicosia glovesman diverted Salman Al Faraj’s free kick into his own net.

Uzoho has come under intense criticism for similar blunders in the past.

Peseiro however refused to blame the shot stopper and instead took responsibility for the howler.

“I like our players, when they make mistakes it is my responsibility,” Peseiro said during his interaction with the media after the game.

“The goalkeepers never play free or calm because of the people. I don’t know why they attack the goalkeepers every time.

“Why don’t they attack the strikers when they lose the ball or miss a goal, why?

“They could make mistakes, it is my responsibility. Next time, I need to train him (Uzoho) better.”
