The Forum of Former Deputy Governors has demanded to be included as members of the National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress.
They made the demand at a meeting with the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Ganduje, while on a solidarity visit to the party secretariat in Abuja.
Chairman of the forum and former deputy governor of Abia State, Chris Akomas, noted that former deputy governors have the experience and expertise needed by the party’s highest decision-making organ.
According to Akomas, who is the Federal Commissioner representing Abia State at the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission Abuja, the forum is organised in a manner that they recognise that they are politicians who are focused on the unity, progress and stability of the country.
The forum thanked President Tinubu for finding some of them worthy to be given federal appointments in his administration.
Responding, Ganduje stated that the position and importance of the deputy governor, although most controversial in the country’s politics, cannot be overemphasised.
The former Kano State governor attributed most problems between governors and their deputies to sycophants within the corridors of power, while describing the situation as unfortunate.
