The Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Keffi, Nasarawa State, has issued a two-week ultimatum for the retrieval of some corpses from its mortuary to avoid them being disposed of by mass burial.

A statement signed by Esther Bature, Public Relations Officer of the medical centre, on Friday, said: “The decision by the management of the medical centre to issue the deadline is due to the fact that some of the corpses were brought in in 2021 and others in 2022, thereby exceeding the time limit of six months permitted by law.”

The statement advised members of the public to check the hospital mortuary, especially those who lost their loved ones during the stated period, for possible identification and a claim.

It further added that after the two-week deadline elapses, the medical centre would be left with no option but to give the nine corpses a mass burial.
