Zamfara State wing of the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, has charged security agencies, to as a matter of urgency, fish out the killers of Lawali Magaji and Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada.
Lawali Magaji, a political associate of Sen. Kabiru Garba Marafa was brutally murdered by a group of people in Tsafe town, Tsafe Local Government Area of the State in February 2024, while Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada was gruesomely killed few kilometers from Mada town recently.
The Commission described the act as condemnable and unaccepted, pointing out that no individual can take the law of the land into their hands and expect to go unpunished.
This was stated by Zamfara State Coordinator of the commission, Abdullahi Abubakar while fielding questions from newsmen in Gusau, the State capital.
According to Abubakar, there are several reported cases of extrajudicial killings across the state.
“The killings of Lawali Magaji, Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa’s political aide and Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada have become eye-openers, so the perpetrators should not be allowed to be moving freely.
“The need has arisen for the security agencies not to defend the perpetrators, but to embark on thorough investigation of the two cases of extrajudicial killings to bring those behind the acts to face the full wrath of the law.
“This will prevent the state from degenerating into a serious problem in future,” he cautioned.
Recall that Lawali Magaji was alleged to have been murdered by the state’s local security outfit last month, while Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada was gruesomely killed this month.
