Dufil Prima Foods Plc, makers of Nigeria’s household Noodles brand-Indomie Instant Noodles, donated educational aid equipment to Federal Nigeria Society of the Blind Lagos.
It said in a statement that during the donation ceremony, the Group Corporate Communications and Event Manager, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, Mr Tope Ashiwaju, said Dufil as a responsible corporate entity has a history of contributing to the care and development of physically challenged in Nigeria.
While noting that the firm was touching many lives, he said in every disability, there was ability.
He said, “Our environment is not favourable for people with sight, not to talk of people living without sight. Therefore, Dufil Prima Foods saw the need to contribute its quota to ensuring that the visually impaired people have access to quality education and equal rights as other citizens in the country.
“Dufil Prima Foods strongly supports sustainable CSR initiatives, particularly those that focus on education since we think that teaching and empowering our children now will lay the groundwork for a better tomorrow.”
The statement said some of the items donated include laptop computers, scanners, mobility cane guide, printers and cartons of indomie noodles.
The statement said the donation is part of Dufil inspiring corporate social responsibility initiative that sought to offer practical relief, succour, hope, opportunities and credible platforms to liberate and empower the underprivileged, disadvantaged and hard to reach persons in our society.
The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Society for the blind, Mr Mayowa Oke, lauded the company for the assistance.
“Receiving donated items like computers, keyboards, and other items will help the blind to become more independent in terms of movement and less reliant on family and friends,” he said.
