Fidelity Bank bagged the award of the Bank of the Year at the event.
In recognition of its impressive financial performance, devotion to driving economic growth and positive impact on the society, Fidelity Bank Plc has been presented the award of the Bank of the Year 2023 at the Champion Newspapers’ Awards.
The awards ceremony, which was presided over by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), brought together prominent figures in the nation’s public and private sectors. The event held on Saturday, 25 May 2024 at the Convention Centre of the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
“The purpose of awards such as this is to encourage the recipients to do even more in their areas of calling and also to let Nigerians and the world to know if you work hard enough, there is a reward for it,” remarked Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) at the event.
Expressing gratitude for the recognition, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Fidelity Bank Plc, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe said, “We are grateful for this recognition as it validates our strategic approach to serving our customers and supporting the economy despite the challenges in the operating environment. The event featured an array of awards presented to distinguished personalities in various spheres of life including the Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Soludo, who bagged the award of the Governor of the Year on Infrastructure and Rural Development; the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, received the Face of Democracy Award; the Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Zulum, who got the Visionary Leader/Pillar of Democracy Award; as well as the Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, who was recognized as the Governor of the Year on Security and Infrastructure.
Similarly, the Group Managing Director of UBA Plc, Mr. Oliver Alawuba got the Man of the Year Award; while the Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank Plc, Dr Ebenezer Onyeagwu, received the Banker of the Year award amongst others.
