The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) has condemned the act of burying 11-year-old Friday Oshodi alive in Kogi State.
The Kogi State chairperson of FIDA, Ajuma Lilian Okolo, in a statement on Saturday, described the act as wicked, heartless, and unacceptable in modern society.
Okolo, while noting that FIDA will ensure that justice is served on all the suspects involved in the crime, added that the organisation is already liaising with constituted authorities to restore life to the victim.
The FIDA Chairperson stated further that Nigerians should ensure that the rights of children are well protected in the country, stressing that the Violence Against Person Prohibition (VAPP) Law will ensure that no child is subjected to any form of maltreatment.
“When I saw the viral video of how this young boy was buried alive by his stepbrother, I couldn’t hold back my tears. This is wickedness at its peak. All those involved in this wicked act will not go unpunished. FIDA, in collaboration with other NGOs, will ensure that the culprits will face the maximum wrath of the law. For the victim, FIDA is also arranging for the boy to live a normal life among his peers,” she said.
It was reported that Goodness Oshodi allegedly buried his younger brother, Friday Oshodi, alive as punishment for stealing money.
The incident, Newspot learnt, occurred at Silo community in Apamisede, Zango Daji, Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
