Female journalists elect new leaders in Oyo [PHOTOS]

Female journalists under the auspices of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in Oyo State on Thursday elected new leaders to pilot the affairs of the union for another three years in office.

The leaders were inaugurated on Thursday in Ibadan.

Those who were inaugurated included Jadesola Ajibola who was re-inaugurated as Chairperson.

Jadesola is the incumbent Chairperson of the association.

Others who were swore in as executive members of NAWOJ are Seyi Bamidele (Vice Chairperson), Stella Oyebanji (Secretary) and Peju Oyelakin (Treasurer).

Our correspondent reports that the newly inaugurated officers who christened their campaign team as Patriots, were sworn in because their opponents have been disqualified by the national body of the union.

National Financial Secretary of NAWOJ, Adeola Adekunle, who spoke on behalf of the NAWOJ National President, Ladi Bala, said the national body having concluded all the screening processes returned Jadesola Ajibola, Seyi Bamidele, Stella Oyebanji and Peju Oyelakin as Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer respectively.

She urged the new executive members to bring all members together, serve diligently and promote peace among members.

NAWOJ Vice President, Omobola Akingbehin who presented the certificates of return to all the officers advised them to work together.

He added that this will help to move the association for and promote the pen profession in Oyo state and Nigeria.

Ajibola in her acceptance speech assured members to prioritise the welfare of members of the union.
