Fallon Sherrock has warned Peter Wright that she is confident of victory in their Grand Slam of Darts quarter-final and intends to ‘give him a game’ as her remarkable run in Wolverhampton continues.

Sherrock became the first female player to reach the knockout stages of the Grand Slam after beating Gabriel Clemens in her final group game, and has now gone one step further by downing Mensur Suljovic in the last 16.

The 10-5 win over the Austrian has set up the clash with Snakebite, a rematch of a group stage game which Wright won 5-1.

Far from rattled by that loss, the Queen of the Palace is full of confidence and has warned the former world champ that he will not be running away with this one.

‘I’m going into that game thinking if I can take a doubles out, get close to him, maybe it’ll be a different scenario,’ she said.

‘I’m just going to go in like I have been the last couple of games. You know what, I can play like everyone else and I’m going to give you a game, I’m not going to just let you run away with it.

‘I go into each game confident I’m going to win.’

Sherrock didn’t need the stunning form against Suljovic that she showed earlier in the tournament, averaging over 101 to beat Mike De Decker 5-0.

An average of under 91 was enough to see off the Austrian, but with Wright finishing on just 89.9 in his 10-9 win over Jose de Sousa, the stats will not be bothering Fallon.

‘It wasn’t the greatest of games but I don’t care, I’ll take the win,’ she said. ‘I’m just so proud of myself, I’m so happy.

‘There was more pressure on me tonight but I’ve tried to keep it out of my head and focus.

‘I love the crowd, I feed off the buzz. I want them to be out of their seats when I hit big scores.

‘I’m really looking forward to playing Peter, hopefully I can hit the doubles I missed against him last time out and it will be a closer game.’
