Suspected landmines planted by terrorists in a community in Shiroro local government area of Niger State have allegedly exploded and injured two persons in the area
The victims are Ezra and Nuhu Dogo who were on their way to Afapi from Chukuba village when the incident occurred on Tuesday.
While it was gathered that Dogo is presently admitted at the IBB Specialist Hospital in Minna, Ezra whose case is not severe is at the Erena hospital.
The Police Public Relations Officer Wasiu Abiodun confirming the incident said the two persons were immediately conveyed to the hospital and are responding to treatment.
He said “the incident that happened in the area is true; the landmines exploded when the victims rode their motorcycle on the landmine that eventually exploded. However, they were rushed to the hospital for medical attention”.
Also, the President Lakpama Youth Assembly, Jibrin Allawa told our Correspondent that the victims were travelling from Chukuba to Afapi when they unknowingly ran into the landmine that resulted in the explosion.
He added that recently, there have been attacks in different villages by the Armed Bandits presently around Lakpma Allawa Pandogari Bassa Road and neighbouring villages in Shiroro LG.
