At least seven terrorists belonging to the Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, has been killed in an explosion.
The development occurred while the terrorists were attempting to prepare improvised explosive devices, IEDs.
Zagazola Makama, a Lake Chad Basin counterterrorism and insurgency expert, who made this known in a post on his X handle on Tuesday.
Makama said that impeccable sources confirmed to him that the incident occurred on December 30, 2024, in a locality between Ba’anfani and Koleram in the far Lake Chad Basin of Borno state.
He disclosed that the explosion happened during the assembly of the IEDs, which the terrorists likely intended to use for attacks in the region.
“The Lake Chad Basin has been a hotspot for ISWAP activities, with the group frequently resorting to IEDs as part of its terror tactics as a desperate attempt,” the security expert added.
