Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag will be sacked before Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino, says former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique.

Ten Hag took charge at Old Trafford last summer and guided United to their first major trophy in six years as the Red Devils lifted the Carabao Cup.

The Dutchman also led United to the FA Cup final and back into the Premier League top four to qualify for this season’s Champions League.

Ten Hag has faced some early pressure this term, though, losing two of United’s opening four Premier League games to Arsenal and Tottenham respectively.

Even in their two wins United did not look convincing, having gone 2-0 down at home to Nottingham Forest inside just four minutes before turning it around 3-2.

They were arguably fortunate to beat Wolves 1-0 on the opening day too – with Gary O’Neil’s side denied a late penalty and registering double the amount of shots on target.

Ten Hag has also faced some criticism over off-field matters, such as his recent public fall-out with Jadon Sancho.

‘I don’t think things are going to end well for Erik ten Hag at Manchester United,’ Enrique told Grosvenor Sport.

‘I loved the way he handled things last season, but with the Jadon Sancho situation this season, I don’t know why he did what he did in putting the whole dressing room against him.

‘I have a feeling that Ten Hag won’t be sacked this season, but in the future he will be sacked before the likes of Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea.

‘After a very good season last season I expected Manchester United to be in a much better position at the moment.

‘Obviously there have been other factors like the Jadon Sancho situation which Erik ten Hag spoke publicly about, as well as the Antony situation.’

United are back in Premier League action on Saturday when they host Brighton at Old Trafford.
