Erik ten Hag admits Manchester United still have ‘problems’ heading into Saturday’s Premier League clash against Everton at Old Trafford.

The United boss was asked to reflect on his second season in charge on Friday ahead of his side’s next top-flight match, which sees them take on the Toffees.

The Red Devils have largely struggled this term – which has seen Ten Hag face criticism – and they look unlikely to secure a top-four finish with 11 games left.

United also finished bottom of their Champions League group to crash out of Europe and were dumped out of the Carabao Cup in the last 16.

The FA Cup is their last chance to register major silverware this season but they face a massive test in the quarter-finals and have been drawn to face Liverpool.

United’s struggles comes after Ten Hag’s impressive debut season in which he guided the team to glory in the Carabao Cup as well as a third-placed finish in the Premier League while they also finished as runners-up in the FA Cup.

‘We want to be successful, we need to be successful,’ United boss Ten Hag told reporters.

‘Sometimes seasons are going like we are now in but we don’t accept that, we will fight, we have problems and have had problems with the squad injury wise.

‘But with the players available we will fight, it doesn’t matter who is the opposition, we go for the win.’

The Dutchman has also provided an injury update on a number of stars including Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford, Jonny Evans, Mason Mount, Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Omari Forson.
