New Manchester United striker, Rasmus Hojlund, is yet to be handed a squad number since he joined the Premier League club.
But Mail Sport claims a summer exit for Fred could free up the number Hojlund wore at Atalanta.
United agreed a deal worth £72m for the 20-year-old, who has scored six goals in six games for the Danish national team.
Hojlund wore the no 17 for Atalanta last season and the number nine for previous club Sturm Graz.
However, neither number is currently available at Old Trafford, but that could soon change.
It is believed United want a better idea of their outgoings before deciding on Hojlund’s squad number.
