EPL: Why Arsenal fail to beat Man City – Arteta

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has suggested why his team failed to beat Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.

Arteta watched as his team came from a goal down to lead 2-1 at halftime.

Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhães scored the goals for the Gunners after Erling Haaland’s early strike.

Arsenal were then reduced to 10 men after Leandro Trossard’s red card.

But a late stoppage time goal from John Stones ensured both teams played 2-2 at Etihad.

Speaking at his post-match interview, Arteta admitted that his team had a very difficult start against the host.

He added that Arsenal struggled to control certain spaces and didn’t have enough ability against Pep Guardiola’s side.

“We had a very difficult start. We struggled to control certain spaces; we didn’t have enough ability. We adapted to that context in the best possible way,” Arteta said.

“I’m so proud of them. You cannot be given a more difficult situation against that opponent and I’m so proud of my team.”
