Former Manchester United midfield maestro, Paul Scholes has named forward Marcus Rashford as the player who can fill Cristiano Ronaldo’s boots at the club.
Scholes said Rashford looks strong and has taken the mantle off Ronaldo of being that match-winner.
Recall that Ronaldo, who currently plays for Al-Nassr, left Man United last November after the Red Devils terminated his contract.
Rashford has been in fabulous form for Erik ten Hag’s side this season, scoring 15 goals and has provided six assists in 25 matches so far.
He scored an 82nd-minute winner for Man United against Manchester City in Saturday’s Premier League derby at Old Trafford.
Speaking about the England international, Scholes said on BT Sport, “His physique, he looks stronger, he looks more powerful, almost in the Cristiano mould.
“Doing stuff like this, it’s like he’s taken that mantle off Cristiano, of being that match-winner.”
He continued, “He’s done it for a shorter period of time, can he go on? A new manager has helped with a bit more discipline. We saw what happened a few weeks ago and he knows he can’t do that.”
