EPL: Nkunku made mistake joining ‘impatient’ Chelsea – John Barnes

Former Liverpool star, John Barnes has suggested that Christopher Nkunku made a mistake leaving Leipzig for Chelsea.

It was widely reported on Saturday that the Blues had concluded the signing of the talented forward from RB Leipzig.

A last-minute injury stopped Nkunku from being part of Didier Deschamps’ squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The 25-year-old netted 64 goals and produced 51 assists in 159 appearances for Leipzig since he joined the club.

Liverpool, Manchester United and former club PSG were interested in the Frenchman but Graham Potter’s Blues have won the raise for his signature.

But Chelsea is not the right destination for Nkunku according to Barnes, who warned that the forward may not reach his potential at Stamford Bridge.

“It’s tough for younger players to come into a club like Chelsea as they are quite unstable in terms of changing their managers,” he told bettingexpert.

“He has great potential but Chelsea hasn’t been that great the last six months and I would hate to see a young talented player go to a club that is not structured at the moment.

“I don’t think they have [patience] with young players.”
