Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has confirmed a fresh injury blow for captain Kevin De Bruyne.
De Bruyne was forced off with injury after just 23 minutes of their opening league game at Burnley.
The midfielder pulled up during City’s 3-0 win at Turf Moor on Friday night. It was immediately apparent that the Belgian playmaker would have to be subbed as he passed the captain’s armband over to Kyle Walker, before being replaced by Mateo Kovacic moments later.
Guardiola, speaking about De Bruyne’s injury after the game, said: “Yes he is injured again. Same issue [as last season] he told me. So that is a problem. We need to go back and reflect with the medical team.
“He was feeling really good and playing really good in the first minutes. But unfortunately, he is injured again.”
