Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has urged new manager Ruben Amorim to bring the club’s legend Roy Keane into his coaching set-up following Ruud van Nistelrooy’s exit from Old Trafford.
Amorim arrived at Carrington on Monday as Man United confirmed Van Nistelrooy’s departure from the club.
The former Sporting Lisbon manager is expected to hit the grass in the coming days when his work visa is officially approved.
The Portuguese is keen to bring his backroom staff from Sporting Lisbon with him to United, with Carlos Fernandes, Emanuel Ferro, Jorge Vital, Adélio Candido and Paulo Barreira all expected to be confirmed in the next few days.
However, Saha feels Amorim could do with the help of Keane at United.
“If Roy Keane was brought into Ruben Amorim’s coaching staff, he would have a huge impact thanks to his understanding of the game in midfield as well as the competitiveness that you need to have at Manchester United,” Saha told BoyleSports, who offer the latest Premier League odds.
“He was a character who imposed himself during his time as a player and was part of the reason that the club was so successful in that period.
“But I think that he would be able to adapt, that is what good players and coaches do.”
