The Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, NCPC, Rev. Yakubu Pam has congratulated the Enugu contingent to the Holy Land of Israel and Jordan for a successful Pilgrimage exercise.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Deputy Director and Head of Media and Public Relations of NCPC, Sunday Celestine Toruka, on Sunday.
The congratulatory statement followed the safe arrival of all the Enugu pilgrims on December 24, 2022, at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.
The pilgrims, numbering 300, touched down at the Airport from the Holy Land at 9:30 pm local time.
Recall that the commission had flagged off the December 2022 pilgrimage exercise to Israel and Jordan two weeks ago in Enugu.
“The Enugu pilgrims had demonstrated good conduct in the Holy Land and should be commended for arriving safely and completely,” Rev Pam said.
The cleric noted that no single pilgrim absconded while in the Holy Land, saying the commission’s target to achieve zero absconding of pilgrims is yielding fruits.
He also thanked the executive secretary of the Enugu State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Barr Nestor Ezeme and NCPC, for providing logistic support for the pilgrims while in the Holy Land.
The cleric said he is hopeful subsequent batches of intending pilgrims would emulate the good example laid by the Enugu pilgrims.
Rev Pam further assured that the commission will continue to make pilgrimage participatory in the coming year while noting that the welfare of pilgrims cannot be compromised.
