The recent resurgence of violence among the Ilobu, Ifon, and Erin Osun communities in Osun State has prompted a strong response from Engr. Olalekan Badmus, former Osun State Commissioner and the Executive Director of Marine and Operations at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). In a heartfelt statement issued from Osogbo, Badmus extended his condolences to the victims and families impacted by the tragic events that resulted in loss of life and property.

Describing the situation as “unfortunate,” Badmus emphasized the urgent need for justice against those perpetuating violence. He called on the Osun State Government to take proactive measures to prevent further escalations of such conflicts, advocating for the use of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms to address tensions before they culminate in violence.

“It is disheartening that avoidable conflicts lead to the loss of innocent lives and the destruction of properties,” Badmus remarked. He urged community leaders and residents to foster peace and reject divisive ideologies that fuel animosity.

Badmus further highlighted the importance of unity among the communities, stating, “We cannot progress as a people if we continue to harbor hatred and separatist tendencies.” He called for collective action from all stakeholders to ensure justice for the victims and to work towards a peaceful resolution.

In his plea for reconciliation, Badmus reiterated the need for security agencies to act decisively in apprehending those responsible for the violence. His statements resonate with the broader call for healing and restoration within the affected communities.
