The Lionesses will be desperate to put in a better performance than the one they churned out against Nigeria – which saw the European champions appear second best for much of the Round of 16 game, eventually winning on penalties.
Victory over their South American counterparts will leave them just one game away from reaching their first ever World Cup final.
England will start the match as clear favourites – but they will be weary of a Colombia side who have already stunned one European powerhouse so far this tournament.
Here is your full brief ahead of England’s quarter-final meeting with Colombia.
When is England vs Colombia?
The game will take place on Saturday, August 12 at 11.30am BST.
The venue will be Stadium Australia in Sydney.
How to watch on TV
England vs Colombia will be shown live on ITV, with coverage getting underway from 10.45am BST.
Viewers will also be able to live stream the game on ITVX.
Early team news
England will be without star striker Lauren James, who was sent off for a stamp on Nigeria’s Michelle Alozie late in the second half.
James’ fate will now be decided by Fifa’s disciplinary committee, who could extend her automatic one match ban into three if it is deemed as violent conduct.
In that eventuality, the 21 year-old would play no further part in England’s World Cup campaign even if the Lionesses made it to the final.
Keira Walsh, who was stretched off during England’s group game against Denmark which forced her to sit out the win over China, made it through the Nigeria game unscathed.
How have Colombia performed at the World Cup so far?
Colombia opened up their World Cup campaign with a 2-0 win over South Korea, before stunning Germany 2-1 in their second game.
The 1-0 defeat to Morocco in their final group game was not enough to prevent them from finishing top of Group H.
Catalina Usme scored the only goal of the game as Colombia edged past Jamaica in their last 16 encounter.
England and Colombia head-to-head record
The only time the two nations have played one another in the Women’s World Cup was in the 2015 group stage.
Karen Carney and Fara Williams were on the scoresheet that day as England eased to a 2-1 win in Canada.
Ranked 25th in the FIFA World Rankings, Colombia are playing in their third Women’s World Cup having previously featured in 2011 and 2015.
Saturday’s game, however, will be the first time they have appeared in the quarter-finals of the Women’s World Cup.
