Sonia Ekweremadu, the daughter of the former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has reacted to the jail term of her dad and her mum.
Sonia speaking in an interview with BBC Pidgin stated that it’s hard to process what had just been declared by the court.
She alleged that she disagreed with the conviction based on the aspect that they were her parents. However, she conceded that the law has to take it full course.
She therefore apologized to her parents for being in such a situation because of her kidney issues
She said, ”It’s sad, it’s been really hard to really wrap my head around it. I understand the conviction, personally I disagree with the conviction, however, that is from a very biased perspective as their daughter. And I would obviously always back my parent. However, the law has taken its course. And we just have to move forward as a family.”
Ekweremadu who was handed nine years and eight months jail term, his wife, Beatrice on the other hand was handed four years and 6 months jail term.
