Ekiti Assembly resumes screening of commissioner-nominees

The Ekiti State House of Assembly is set to resume the screening of the remaining seven commissioner-nominees on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.

According to the statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, the Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Hon. Babatunde Oke, representing Ikere Constituency I, stated that the screening of the 21 commissioner-nominees forwarded to the House by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for screening and possible confirmation will be continued on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, in line with Section 192(2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

It would be recalled that the House had, at its plenary sitting on Thursday, July 6, 2023, adjourned sine die, thereby putting on hold the screening of commissioner-nominees it commenced on Monday, July 3, 2023.

So far, 14 commissioner-nominees have been screened and are currently awaiting confirmation by the House, while screening of the remaining seven nominees will follow on Tuesday in the hallowed chamber at 10am.

The chairman further said that concerned commissioner-nominees should ensure compliance with the guiding principles earlier communicated to them through the Clerk of the House, Mr. Tola Esan, as they appear before the House.
