Assalamu alaikum warahmatulLah!
His Eminence, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Nigeria, has officially announced that the Crescent of Shawwal has been sighted in various locations throughout Nigeria. As a result, Sunday, March 30, 2025, will be celebrated as the 1st of Shawwal, 1446 AH, heralding the festive occasion of Eidul Fitr.
This declaration marks a significant moment for the Muslim community, as it signifies the conclusion of Ramadan—a month dedicated to fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection. Eidul Fitr is a time for families and friends to come together, share meals, and participate in charitable acts, embodying the values of compassion and unity.
In his message, the Sultan urged the faithful to continue seeking Allah’s blessings and forgiveness, praying for acceptance of their ibadah during Ramadan and for His Rahma, Maghfirah, and protection from Hellfire.
As the date approaches, preparations for the Eid celebrations are underway, with many looking forward to the joy and togetherness that this special day brings.
Eid Mubarak! Taqabbalalahu minna wa minkum.
