The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has deployed about 2,000 operatives to man roads in Ogun State as the Eid-el-Kabir festival holds on Wednesday, June 28.

This is as the FRSC, Ogun Sector Command, commenced the Eid-el-Kabir special operations on Monday.

Ogun FRSC Spokesperson, Florence Okpe, said the operation was to enable the Muslim faithful and other Nigerians “to have a hitch free movement to celebrate with their families and friends by averting the chaos that characterized the road during such celebrations.”

The operation, according to Okpe, would focus on dangerous driving, overtaking, speeding, line indiscipline, seat belt violation, lack of passengers manifest, use of phone while driving, drunk driving among others.

“A total of two thousand (2000) personnel comprising Regular and Special Marshals have been deployed to critical corridors across Ogun State,” Okpe said in a statement made available to Newspot.

She advised motorists traveling during this period to celebrate with their families and friends to adhere to traffic rules and regulations.

The FRSC charged them to have their journeys properly planned, with their vehicles routinely serviced while paying special attention to construction zones where traffic is diverted.

The agency appealed to motorists to demonstrate the reason for the season by sharing roads responsibly, considering other road users and obeying traffic rules.

Okpe warned that “any motorist apprehended flouting traffic rules may be treated as driving dangerously and could be prosecuted.”

She assured of timely traffic situation reports to guide motorists in having seamless travel experience.
