Stanley Eguma has shared his thoughts after his Rivers United side were held to a 0-0 draw by Abia Warriors at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Saturday night.
The defending champions had goalkeeper Darlington Ovunda to thank for saving a penalty in the 67th minute.
The Port Harcourt club moved to second position on the Group B table, four points adrift leaders Lobi Stars and still have a game in hand.
The Rivers United head coach stated that his players gave their best in the game.
“We tried our best and we hope for victory before the game but we take this point as it come and hope to bounce back with good display,” Eguma said after the keenly contested encounter.
Rivers United are now unbeaten in their seven games against Abia Warriors, with five draws and two wins.
They will now shift attention to next weekend’s CAF Confederation Cup home game against DC Motema Pembe of Congo Democratic Republic.
