The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Dr. Mkor Aondona, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Benue State on Documentation, Research, and Planning, over serious allegations of sextortion, cyberbullying, and blackmail involving female students.

According to an official EFCC statement, the arrest was executed on Friday by operatives from the Makurdi Zonal Directorate after a series of disturbing petitions were filed against Aondona. The petitioners – mostly students – alleged that the governor’s aide routinely recruited slim, attractive young women under the guise of ushering jobs, but allegedly demanded sexual favours as a prerequisite for selection.

The situation took a darker turn when it was discovered that Aondona had reportedly recorded sexual encounters without consent, using the footage as leverage to blackmail the victims into continued sexual relationships. The EFCC confirmed that some of these explicit videos had already been circulated across messaging platforms.

“This is not just unethical — it’s a clear criminal breach of trust and abuse of office. The safety and dignity of our young women must be non-negotiable,”

a source within the EFCC stated.

Aondona is expected to be formally charged to court in the coming days as investigations continue. Legal experts are already predicting a stormy trial, given the explosive nature of the allegations and the involvement of a top state government official.

This case once again raises urgent questions about the abuse of power in public office and the vulnerability of young women, especially in settings where authority figures exploit access for personal gratification.

The Benue State Government has yet to issue an official response, but pressure is mounting on Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration to distance itself from the scandal and ensure justice for the victims.
