Tertiary Institutions in the country have been tasked to follow the admission guidelines as laid down by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
This charge was given by the Minister of Education, Honourable Malam Adamu Adamu, while addressing the gathering of Heads of Tertiary Institutions and other stakeholders at the just concluded 2022 Policy Meeting on Admissions, held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
Malam Adamu, in his address at the meeting, described education as the foundation of all developmental aspirations of man, adding that at such, stakeholders in the sector should be above board in all their dealings.
The minister, who expressed hopes that tertiary institutions would adhere strictly to the policy that will emanate from the event, frowned at the effontery of some tertiary institutions to go against the ministry’s directives on admission, a development he said would hinder the growth of a nation, especially when those st the helms of affairs go against rules and regulations.
While stating that conducting their admissions according to the rules, would create room for fairness and transparency, Malam Adamu warned that he would no longer mediate between and JAMB,for the condonement of their underhand and undisclosed admissions.
The ministry warmed that non-compliance with this year’s directives on admissions would birth negative consequences for infractors.
Meanwhile, JAMB, has urged all tertiary institutions to ensure that the guidelines are religiously adhered to.
