Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has sent a heartfelt message to Petr Cech after the club legend’s exit from Stamford Bridge.

Cech, who enjoyed a glittering spell with the Blues during his playing career, stepped down from his role as Technical and Performance Advisor at the west London club earlier this week.

There have been many changes at board level since Todd Boehly completed his takeover of Chelsea, with Marina Granovskaia and Bruce Buck also departing.

Cech said: ‘It has been a huge privilege to perform this role at Chelsea for the past three years.

‘With the Club under new ownership, I feel now is the right time for me to step aside.

‘I am pleased that the Club is now in an excellent position with the new owners, and I am confident of its future success both on and off the pitch.’

Cech played a prominent role in the club signing Mendy from Rennes in 2020, with the goalkeeper going on to help the Blues win the Champions League.

Taking to social media, Mendy thanked Cech and wished him the best for the future.

‘I want to thank you for all the moments, all the trainings and all the learnings we have shared together. Thank you for your trust,’ Mendy wrote on Instagram.

‘I wish you a brilliant future in your upcoming challenges.’

In terms of potential signings, Chelsea have been linked with defenders Matthijs De Ligt and Jules Kounde.

Meanwhile, in terms of attack, the Blues are thought to be the firm favourites in the race for Raphinha after reportedly agreeing a £55million deal with Leeds United for the winger.
