Eddie Hearn clashed with Ryan Garcia’s father in a furious backstage row that ended in a friendly hug following the Devin Haney fight.

Garcia produced a stunning win over Haney in New York in the early hours of Sunday morning to secure the biggest win of his career to date.

Matchroom chief Hearn has previously worked with Haney but was full of praise for Garcia’s performance, with many questioning the 25-year-old’s mental well-being leading into fight night following some very erratic behaviour.

Hearn was giving his post-fight thoughts on camera backstage when the argument erupted out of nowhere.

After hailing Garcia’s ‘amazing’ performance, Hearn spots Garcia Snr off-camera, telling him ‘well done’.

Garcia Snr is then heard calling Hearn a ‘piece of s**t,’ prompting a furious Hearn to respond ‘f**k you.’

Garcia Snr then grabbed and shook his crotch in Hearn’s direction, saying:  ‘F**k you, you know you’re a piece of s**t and that’s what you get.’

He added: ‘That’s what you get. Now what are you going to say? Luke Campbell and Devin Haney, f*** you. Now who have you got?’

A laughing Hearn calmed the situation, seemingly offering up the possibility of a fight between Garcia and his newly-signed welterweight star Jaron Ennis, who signed for his stable last week.

Garcia Snr then approached Hearn with a smile on his face saying ‘you’re all good’, with the two shaking hands. The American then apologised for ‘getting emotional.’

Hearn said: “It’s a sport and when you win I’ll give you all the respect you deserve. I accept your apology.’

Garcia knocked Haney down three times as he clinched a majority decision win over his rival. It was Haney’s first professional defeat.
