the Regent of Oba in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Prince Noel Ezenwa, has disagreed with the governors of the South-East over their plans to create a joint security outfit to patrol highways in the region.

Ezenwa said the Ebubeagu security outfit already created by the governors had become a burden on the people; therefore, creating another one will further compound the already tense situation in the region.

He added that such a move is unacceptable because the Ebubeagu that the governor created has killed and destroyed many lives and properties in the South-East.

He said the governors can only achieve an effective joint security system through a synergy between vigilante operatives and security forces in their various localities.

The monarch, who spoke to journalists at his Ezeokpoko Royal Palace, Oba, on Monday, said the governors should rather deploy technology through the installation of modern security gadgets like closed-circuit television cameras in all nooks and crannies, including forests in the South-East geopolitical zone.

He noted that for any joint security system to work in the South-East geopolitical zone, political differences must be set aside.
