The management of Dowen College has commiserated with the family of Sylvester Oromoni Jr.
Oromoni was allegedly beaten by fellow students leading to his death. Some of the suspects are currently on the run.
A statement on Sunday described the deceased as a “beacon of light” who was loved by all.
It admitted that the “unfortunate incident and death” requires a thorough and proper inquiry.
Dowen College said it is fully committed to a probe and assisting the authorities to get to the bottom of the tragedy.
“At this time of intense grief and suffering, emotions are raw and tensions are high.
“We pray that God, who alone knows how to comfort the sorrowing, will comfort Sylvester’s family and all those who loved and knew him.”
The statement assured parents that steps are being taken to ensure the safety and security of children and wards.
Lagos State Government shut the school last Friday pending the outcome of an investigation.
