Do not tamper with Oyo APC ward congress list – Group warns CECPC

A group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Oyo Progressives Front (OPF) has warned top officials of Caretaker Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the party against tampering with the outcome of the just-concluded ward Congress of the party.

Newspot recalls that the APC ward congresses were held across the country last week.

The Oyo State congresses were conducted under the Chairmanship of Alhaji Gambo Lawan.

OPF has, however warned officials of the party against tampering with the outcome of the congresses.

The group noted that such attempt is an invitation to anarchy.

Coordinator of the Group, Comrade Tunde Oladeji, in a statement made available to Newspot on Thursday said that information revealed that the leadership of CECPC is planning to favour a particular governorship aspirant in the State.

The group said that the CECPC is planning to swap the list of the Ward Congress with that of the candidate.

The group alleged that the aspirant is one of the serving senators in the state.

OPF warns that this move is capable of further causing division in the APC family in Oyo State.

OPF added that members of the party have decided to work together for the success of the party in 2023 general elections.

“We are enjoying peace in the APC family in the State presently as most of the warring factions have resolved to bury their differences and work together for the success of the party in the 2023 general election.

“This has reflected in the peaceful atmosphere that pervaded during the Congress, we, however, frown at the attempt by some elements in the CECPC leadership to cause problems in the State by thwarting the will of the people as expressed in the just concluded Congress.

“We are watching the action of the CECPC and the leadership closely, we will not allow them take us back to the crisis we have left behind. We will resist that attempt with everything at our disposal.”

Public Relations Officer of the party, Dr. Abdulaziz Olatunde described the allegation as an imagination.

He said that the executive did not have any interest in any of the aspirants.

“It is just an imagination. We are not hungry people.

“We don’t have any interest in any of the aspirants.”

“People in the party including myself, we are not hungry people that we will submit ourselves to a party senator as they alleged.”
