Declan Rice set for audition in front of Frank Lampard

West Ham face another London derby a week on from their 2-0 lost to Tottenham and this time they face Chelsea – live and exclusive on talkSPORT.

If the Hammers’ situation wasn’t bad enough, they now face a Blues side who are unbeaten in six matches, winning their last five in a row.

Oh, and to make matters worse, they’re managed by former midfielder Frank Lampard who seemingly wants to sign the east Londoners’ best player – Declan Rice.

It could be a rough night for West Ham boss David Moyes, who insists he still has big plans at the London Stadium.

“West Ham has a fantastic history but what we want is new history and I want the chance to build new history, make new history, create something which gives us a feeling of hope for the future,” said Moyes.

“The big thing first though is to win our next four or five games and make sure we are a Premier League club. If we do that then we can start building new history and I want to be the guy to do it.

“I have got a lot of ideas and thoughts about where I want to take the club if I can do it but I have to mention there have been some unbelievable managers and players at this club who are recognised worldwide.

“Should I get the chance, I want to take this club forward, improve the club, improve personally. But we can’t make that history just yet, we have got loads and loads of things to do yet.”

Opposite number Lampard though is creating history already and wants a top four finish in his first season as Premier League manager.

Victory would ease the pressure currently on him with Manchester United, Wolves, Sheffield United, and even Tottenham hot on their heels.

West Ham team news

The Hammers look set to be without Sebastien Haller again as he continues his return to fitness but David Moyes reckons he is ‘getting closer’.

There are also major doubts over Angelo Ogbonna and Arthur Masuaku, which will frustrate the Scotsman.

Felipe Anderson and Manuel Lanzini could be given the chance to impress again, while Michail Antonio is set to lead the line once again.

Declan Rice may drop into centre-back too as he faces his former club and the team linked with signing him in the next transfer window.

For the Blues, Andreas Christensen and Christian Pulisic are doubts for the London derby.

The Danish defender had a hip issue ahead of their FA Cup win over Leicester, but the latter, who has been in fantastic form, hobbled out of the victory with a calf issue.

Given Lampard’s complaints about his side’s first half performances against the Foxes you would assume Reece James, Billy Gilmour, and Mason Mount are going to have to settle for a place on the bench.

Meanwhile, Pedro could start the match as his spell in London edges to an end.
