Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has warned Chelsea that they will get beaten again on Saturday.
Graham Potter’s side crashed out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday following back-to-back Premier League defeats to Brighton and Arsenal.
The Blues may have qualified for the Champions League knockout stages but things are not going so well in the top-flight, with the team seventh in the table.
Chelsea have one last game before the season pauses for the World Cup in Qatar, which gets underway on November 20.
It is another huge test for Potter’s side as they face a trip to St James’ Park to take on third-placed Newcastle United who are flying under boss Eddie Howe.
Newcastle, along with leaders Arsenal and champions Manchester City, have only lost one game this season and are unbeaten since August 31.
Howe’s side have won their last four Premier League games in a row and will be looking to make it five on Saturday.
‘Newcastle against Chelsea… This is a proper test for Chelsea off the back of the Arsenal defeat,’ Seaman told his YouTube podcast.
‘Going up to Newcastle, who are third in the league, and that juggernaut is going into second gear.
‘I think this could be a tough day for Chelsea. I think it will be 3-1 to Newcastle.’
The Magpies have flexed their financial muscles since a Saudi-backed consortium completed a £300m takeover of the club in October 2021, brining in players such as Bruno Guimaraes, Kieran Trippier and Alexander Isak.
Chelsea owner Todd Boehly warned in the summer that Newcastle will join the traditional Premier League ‘big six’ to form a new ‘big seven’ due to their spending power.
Meanwhile, former Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given has backed Howe to guide his old club to the Premier League title in the near future.
