The Country Director, Global Peace Foundation Nigeria (GPFN), Rev John Joseph Hayab, has expressed delight that the formation of a Peace and Reconciliation Committee is yielding positive results in ensuring the sustenance of peace in Southern Kaduna.

Newspot recalls that the area last year witnessed the killings of people, destruction of homes and farmlands by suspected Fulani militias, especially in Kaura, Kauru and Zangon Kataf local government areas.

Represented by Abdul Ahmed, the Program Manager of the organization, Hayab said the peace foundation was determined more than ever to ensure mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence among various communities in society.

At the continuation of the peacebuilding process in Kagoro chiefdom, Kaura local government area and the inauguration of the Kagoro Peace and Reconciliation Committee, Hayab said it is only through the atmosphere of peace that people can showcase their potential.

He said, “This was informed by the belief that only by the people taking ownership of the peace-building processes themselves can there be a sincere commitment for peace and harmony among the communities, state and the country as a whole.”
