Executive governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, said he has stopped visiting his mother regularly as one of the preventive measures against the spread of Coronavirus.
He disclosed this on a phone in television programme last weekend in Ibadan,put in place as part of activities marking his first year in office.
Speaking on ways to stop the spread of the pandemic, which has ravaged the globe, the Oyo state helmsman, explained the importance of social distancing, washing of hands regularly and the use of face mask in the fight against Covid-19.
“We must adhere strictly to all the preventive measures spelt out. This include maintaining social distansing especially among the aged.
“My house is few mattes away from where my mum stays, yet I don’t visit her regularly because the aged are vulnerable to contracting the disease.
“Anytime I pay her a visit, I use face mask and I also ensure that we don’t get too close to each other and I think that is the way we should all take responsibilities in waging war against Coronavirus”, declared governor Makinde.
While thanking the people of Oyo state for the support giving his administration in its first 365 days in office, governor Makinde, urged then to continue to support his government, reiterating his readiness to deliver to them, the dividends of democracy, which he promised during his electionery campaign and swearing in on May 29, 2019.
