Conor Gallagher has reservations over his future at Chelsea despite the club assuring him he will be given a chance to break into the first-team next season.

After a spell with West Brom last season, Gallagher joined Crystal Palace on a season-long loan in the summer.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed an outstanding campaign in south east London with his fine form rewarded with an England debut against San Marino on Monday.

Gallagher is one of 22 players currently out on loan from Chelsea with he and Billy Gilmour, on loan at Norwich City this term, tipped to return to their parent club next season and remain part of Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

Eurosport however report that Gallagher is concerned Chelsea will still be tempted to sign reinforcements in the summer transfer window rather than turning to their academy products.

Chelsea took such a step this summer with Saul Niguez brought in following the loan exits of Gallagher and Gilmour.

The Spaniard has struggled so far at Stamford Bridge having started just three times in all competitions but is reportedly ready to see out the season in England and fight for his place.

Gallagher meanwhile has been integral at Palace where he has scored four and provided two assists for Patrick Vieira’s side.
