The Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, in Taraba State has called on the state governor, Agbu Kefas, to prevail on the leadership of the State Primary Education Board to remit the union’s checkup dues.
The checkup due, as gathered by Newspot, has been withheld by the leadership of the Board for over two years.
Making the appeal in a press statement on Monday, the state NUT Chairman, Nathan Solomon, said the refusal of the Board to remit the dues had become a nightmare for the union.
The union said all efforts already made to retrieve the dues from the board, failed, raising the call for the governor’s intervention.
“We have been running our union without remittance of checkup dues for over 2 years.”
“The dues have been withheld by the state Primary Board, we are pleading with the governor to intervene in the matter.”
Solomon, who also reiterated the union’s readiness to support the incumbent state government, appealed to the governor to pay the teachers five months salary arrears owed by the past administration.
