The incident occurred at Stamford Bridge on Saturday as Chelsea threw away a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw against Arsenal.
Palmer, a £42.5m summer signing from Manchester City, put in an impressive performance and got on the scoresheet but after Arsenal’s 84th-minute equaliser to silence the home fans, he chucked a bottle towards the dugout.
It hit his own boss Pochettino and Palmer, 21, hopes that the Argentine will not ‘drop him’ because of his honest mistake.
‘When they scored their second goal I was getting a drink,’ Palmer told Chelsea’s website.
‘I went to throw the bottle away, as you do, but didn’t look. I just saw it loop dead slow and hit the gaffer.
‘I said sorry to him and apologised properly after the game. Hopefully he won’t drop me for that!
‘We get on well. I try to show him every day in training what I can do. Work hard and just try to repay him because he puts a lot of faith in us.’
Palmer has registered two goals and an assist in his last two Premier League games for Chelsea and he is loving life in west London.
‘I came to Chelsea to try to make an impact,’ he added. ‘I’m happy I’ve done it straight away. Credit to the lads, the lads are all good, helped me settle in and stuff, but I’ve just got to try to improve every day and give more and more.’
