In their teaching and sermon, Bishop Samuel Ekamem and Evangelist ‘Abiodun Adegoroye harped on the need for the additional church leaders to serve with joy and zeal and, at the same time, be servant-leaders.
On his part, Bishop Ekamem, who taught on the topic, ‘That They May Serve with Joy,’ taken from Heb 13:17, emphasised that for the leaders to serve with joy, the congregrate must play a supportive role.
“The choice of the topic is also well thought out, as it speaks to both the Elder and
Deacons are being ordained today, and the congregation. The leaders are being ordained, and the existing ones are expected to serve the congregation with joy and passion.
“For the leaders to serve with joy, the congregation and the individual members must play a supportive role. While there is a personal responsibility for the leaders to serve with joy, individual Christians and the congregation must collectively provide the enabling environment for the elders.
and deacons to serve with joy and not with sorrow, “Elder Ekamem admonished.
Also, Adegoroye urged the new leaders to be brave and courageous while serving God sacrificially.
The major highlight of the service was the ordination of the leaders by the church’s resident evangelist, David Akpata. Thereafter, Elder Samuel Aigbogun concluded the service with a prayer.
Prior to this year’s ordination, the church already had five bishops, including Aigbogun, Ekanem, P.S. Egure, O.A. Gbeleyi, and D.N. Onuoha.
Similarly, existing deacons in the Church of Christ, Kado, are Abure. S. Ehimare, Umanah Ezekiel, William D. Kareem, Charles Okiolhole, and Nsikak Sampson.
