Senior Pastor of Awaiting The Second Coming Of Christ Ministry, Adewale Giwa has advocated for regional government with a view to tackling challenges facing Nigeria.

He specifically called on politicians in the country to take the citizens back to 1963 Republican constitution where it allowed four regions to be independent and managed their resources.

Addressing his members in Akure, Ondo State Capital on Sunday, Giwa said all hands must be on deck to restructure Nigeria so as to allow each region to manage its resources.

Besides, the cleric also blamed the National Assembly for neglecting its duties and responsibilities on good governance to pursue its selfish desires.

He said, “If we claim to be practicing federalism, we will give room for regionalism where each region can manage what it has.

“Let’s beg our politicians and leaders to take us back to 1963 Republican constitution where we had four regions, Norther Nigeria, Eastern Nigeria, Western Nigeria and Mid-Western Nigeria.

“Today, the state is under the Federal government while the Local government is under the state. No Local Government autonomy anymore, and the state is now spending the money meant for the Local government while the Federal Government is enslaving the state.

“A local government no longer have control over its specific geographical region. The state governments are now executing the projects meant for the local governments.

“We cannot make progress with this theory; our politicians know this, but they decide to close their eyes because the current system is in their favour.

“Take us back to when our currencies were good, take us back to when education was free, take us back to when our health system was good and take us back to when our economy was booming.”
